How We Achieved a 95+ PageSpeed Score for a Mumbai Client (Case Study)

Published on 1 June 2026·3 min read

When a client from Powai, Mumbai came to us, their existing website was scoring a 42 on Google PageSpeed Insights. Pages took 8+ seconds to load on mobile. They were losing potential customers before they even saw the homepage. Here's exactly how we fixed it — and what a fast website did for their business.

The Problem: A Slow Website Costs Real Money

Studies show that for every 1-second delay in page load time, conversions drop by 7%. For a business getting 500 visits per month with an average enquiry value of ₹15,000, a single second of delay could mean ₹52,500 in lost revenue per month.

This client was losing far more than one second. Their site was built on a bloated WordPress theme with 14 unoptimised plugins, 4MB hero images, and render-blocking scripts loading before any content.

    What We Did

    1. Rebuilt on a Modern Stack

We rebuilt the site using React with Vite — a modern JavaScript framework that ships far less code to the browser than WordPress. The result: a lighter, faster, more maintainable codebase.

    2. Image Optimisation

Every image was converted to WebP format and lazy-loaded (only loaded when the user scrolls to them). The hero image was served at the exact resolution needed — no more 4MB downloads for a 400px image on mobile.

    3. Font Loading Strategy

We preconnected to Google Fonts and used font-display: swap to prevent font loading from blocking page render. Fonts now load asynchronously while the page content is already visible.

    4. Code Splitting and Lazy Loading

Heavy components (portfolio gallery, testimonials, animations) were lazy-loaded — they only download when the user needs them, not on initial page load.

    5. Eliminating Render-Blocking Scripts

Analytics and chat scripts were moved to load after the main content. This alone shaved 1.2 seconds off the Time to Interactive metric.

    6. Local Schema Markup

We added LocalBusiness JSON-LD schema, FAQPage schema, and a BreadcrumbList — giving Google structured data to display rich snippets in search results.

    The Results

    • 📈 PageSpeed Score: 42 → 97 on mobile, 99 on desktop
    • ⏱️ Time to First Contentful Paint: 4.1s → 0.8s
    • 📧 Monthly enquiries: +220% in 3 months post-launch
    • 🔍 Google ranking: Page 3 → Page 1 for primary keyword within 60 days

Why Speed Matters for Mumbai Businesses

Mumbai's mobile internet usage is extremely high — many potential customers are on 4G networks in areas with variable signal. A fast website is not a luxury; it is a requirement for reaching and converting Mumbai customers.

Google also uses page speed as a ranking factor. Faster sites rank higher in organic search and local Map Pack results.
